RUTH MULLAN STAINED GLASS ARTIST
I am a stained glass artist working in Sussex. Having graduated from Eastbourne College of Art and Design with a Society of Industrial Artists and Designers (S.I.A.D.) Diploma in Graphic Design.
I have been a duly elected diploma member or the Chartered Society of Designers since 1986.
I worked as freelance designer after which I undertook training in stained glass design under the professional guidance of master craftsman Keith Nickels.
Transferring my skills to stained glass art I readily enjoy the challenge of designing and being able to visually interpret a client's brief; by concentrating on the use of colour, light and texture of the glass to enhance the design.
I work mainly in leaded glass on commission based installations for windows and doors and hanging pieces. I also work with copper foil usually on smaller projects. I enjoy working with fused glass and the unpredictability of the result unlike the constraints of leaded work.
Stained Glass Commissions
I'm happy to take on commissions for stained glass windows, doors and hanging pieces. Commissioning a stained glass panel allows you to acquire a unique piece of art which is an expression of your ideas, and which is designed to suit the location you choose.
The commissioning process begins with a site visit as it gives me a sense of the ambient light, and helps in choosing glass which would be suitable for the location. It is an opportunity for you to look at my portfolio in more detail and to discuss your ideas and expectations.
Once we have exchanged ideas about design style, colours and themes, I would be able to provide you with an accurate estimate of timescale and how much the panel will cost.
Different styles have different levels of complexity, which in turn affects the price. The site visit also allows us to agree on delivery and installation options.
