About - Ruth Mullan Stained Glass Artist
Working from my garden studio in West Sussex, I create bespoke stained glass pieces that celebrate the interplay of colour, light, and texture. My practice is rooted in traditional craftsmanship and guided by a deep appreciation for the expressive potential of glass.
I graduated from Eastbourne College of Art and Design and was honoured to be elected as a diploma member of the Chartered Society of Designers in graphic design.
My creative journey evolved through dedicated training in traditional stained glass and lead work under master craftsman Keith Nickels, whose mentorship shaped my approach to design and technique.
Each commission begins with a conversation. I love the challenge of interpreting a client’s brief and translating it into a visual narrative—whether for windows, doors, or hanging installations. I work primarily with lead and glass, and also use copper foil for smaller, more intricate projects.
Throughout the year, I host workshops in my studio, sharing the joy of stained glass with others and encouraging hands-on exploration of this timeless art form.
